Oriatron – Siriatron – Modular Linac
A complete range of 3–9 MeV electron accelerators, designed for both fixed and modular installations
AVELION designs and manufactures industrial electron linear accelerators (LINACs) entirely in-house. This expertise covers the complete accelerator chain, including the electron gun, RF structures, beam dynamics, X-ray conversion target, collimation and control systems. All system are validated through electromagnetic, beam dynamics and thermal simulations, and tested in AVELION’s dedicated bunker prior to delivery.
Oriatron® – High-Energy X-Ray for Fixed Inspection Facilities
- High-energy X-ray inspection for bunkers and inspection cells
- 3 to 9 MeV range with up to 350 mm steel penetration
- High dose rate en small focal spot for high-resolution imaging
- Radiography and CT compatible, synchronized with imaging system
The Oriatron® range is dedicated to high-energy X-ray inspection in controlled environments such as bunkers or inspection cells.
Key characteristics:
-
- Energy range: 3 to 9 MeV
- Steel penetration: up to 350 mm equivalent
- High dose rates for fast acquisition (40 times faster than a gamma source)
- Reduced focal spot down to 0.6–0.7 mm
- Synchronization with imaging systems
- Designed for radiography and tomography
These characteristics make the Oriatron® particularly suited for high-resolution inspection of dense components, including CT applications. In addition, each system can be used in different beam configurations by changing the beam energy, the dose rate and the focal size to best integrate into the imaging system. It can be simply set-up, installed on a forklift or fixed on a tilting table.
Siriatron® / Modular Linac – On-site High-Energy Inspection
- The performance of a fixed linear accelerator
- The ability to operate in reduced space
- Easy to operate, thanks to a modular system adaptable to the site
- Transportable and easy to set up
For inspection scenarios where fixed bunker installations are not possible, AVELION has developed a modular LINAC architecture, enabling on-site high-energy X-ray inspection.
This architecture is based on the physical separation of accelerator functions, allowing flexible deployment while preserving LINAC performance.
Key characteristics:
-
- Separation of beamline, RF module, modulator and control systems
- Lightweight beamline module deployable in confined spaces
- Flexible installation distances (up to 100 m between modules)
- Adapted to complex industrial environments
This modular approach combines the performance of a fixed accelerator with the flexibility required for field operations, providing a modern alternative to gamma inspection sources.
Reliability, qualification and support
- Turnkey installation and commissioning
- Full regulatory and customer compliance
- Long-term support, maintenance and spare parts continuity
AVELION LINACs are designed to ensure long-term reliability, high operational availability and full compliance with customer and regulatory requirements, supported by comprehensive qualification procedures, responsive technical assistance and efficient maintenance services throughout the entire lifetime of the system.
Factory acceptance tests (FAT)
Each machine is fully tested in the AVELION bunker prior to delivery. A FAT in the presence of the customer is strongly recommended and can be performed according to customer-specific requirements. The standard duration of the FAT is 3 to 5 days, depending on the scope of tests and acceptance criteria.
On-Site installation and Site Acceptant Tests (SAT)
Installation, start-up and SAT are performed by AVELION’s qualified technical team and typically require about 3 weeks. Bunker drawings, safety chain architecture and related documentation shall be provided to AVELION at least 4 months before delivery. Any available bunker certification is highly appreciated to facilitate and secure the commissioning phase.
Training
AVELION provides a comprehensive training program adapted to the user profiles (operators…), with a typical duration of 2 to 5 days. A training certificate is delivered at the end of the session.
Qualified preventive and corrective maintenance
Preventive and corrective maintenance are carried out by AVELION’s experienced service engineers. Maintenance plans are defined to ensure long-term reliability, stable performance and compliance with safety standards. In case of failure, our highly reactive after-sales service provides rapid on-site or remote intervention, minimizing machine downtime and restoring operation in the shortest possible time.
Long-term support and spare parts availability
AVELION ensures long-term technical support and spare parts availability over the full lifetime of the linac. Critical spare parts are kept in stock by our technical teams, guaranteeing fast turnaround and minimum machine downtime.
