AVELION (formerly PMB) is a French high-technology company with a long-standing expertise in brazing dissimilar materials and specialized in the design and manufacture of complex assemblies and sub-assemblies (RF and beamline components, components for X-ray tubes, ceramic-metal assemblies…), as well as particle accelerators and disruptive medical systems.

About AVELION

  • Advanced vacuum brazing and precision manufacturing capabilities

  • Complex material assemblies for critical environments

  • Particle accelerator systems for NDT and Nuclear Medicine

  • Driving innovation in particle acceleration technologies for Nuclear, Defense, Medical, R&D, and Industrial markets

Since 1985, AVELION (formerly PMB) has been recognized for its high-level expertise in complex ceramic-to-metal and metal-to-metal brazing for ultra-high-vacuum applications. The company has built a strong reputation in the design and manufacturing of advanced components and systems for critical environments including ultra-high vacuum, high voltage, high pressure, and radiation.

Specialized in assembling dissimilar materials — such as beryllium, advanced ceramics, and metals — AVELION masters critical processes including vacuum and controlled-atmosphere brazing, precision machining, grinding, surface treatment, welding, and advanced bonding.

Its core product portfolio includes:

    • RF components (RF windows, accelerating waveguides)

    • High-power RF couplers

    • Beamline components (electron guns, conversion targets, collimators, ion chambers)

    • X-ray tube components (anode and cathode insulators, beryllium center frames, filament carriers)

    • Brazed and welded high-technology mechanical assemblies for demanding applications (ultra-high vacuum, cryogenic temperature)

Since 2012, AVELION has designed and developed several disruptive solutions for :

    • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): High-energy electron LINACs and X-ray systems for on-site inspections and dedicated bunker installations.

    • Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging: Automated cyclotron and radiochemistry systems for PET radiotracer production.

    • Radiotherapy: FLASH radiotherapy systems capable of delivering treatment in a single session in a few seconds significantly minimizing toxicity to healthy tissues This activity has been transferred to the spin-off THERYQ.

Driven by energy, motion, and precision, the name AVELION reflects the company’s ambition to accelerate innovation and shape the future of particle acceleration technologies.

Serving Nuclear Energy, Defense & Security, Medical, R&D, and Industrial markets, AVELION transforms scientific excellence into tangible, high-impact solutions — turning innovation into reality.

Two Locations for Ever-Growing Expertise

  • Main facility in the South of France, close to Aix-en-Provence
  • Second industrial production unit in Sousse in Tunisia

AVELION’s main facility is located in the south of France, near Aix-en-Provence. This site brings together more than 200 employees and covers 6,600 m² of industrial and production facilities, serving as the core hub of the company’s activities and expertise.

To further expand its industrial capabilities and technical know-how, AVELION also operates a production unit in Sousse, Tunisia, spanning 2,200 m² and supporting the company’s growing international operations. Established in 2006, PMB Tunisia is a subsidiary of AVELION and serves as a dedicated manufacturing unit supplying parts to AVLIOFrance. The site specializes in machining and surface treatment operations. PMB Tunisia also has strong expertise in the end-to-end manufacturing of technical ceramic parts, covering the complete process.

The ALCEN Group headquarters, to which AVELION belongs, is based in Paris, ensuring strategic coordination and group-level management.
